Dental Clinic Cabinetry & Reception Counters: Custom Manufacturing

We build the millwork only — counters, cabinets, worktops and storage. No chairs, compressors or sterilizers: saying so plainly matters, because a clinic fit-out goes wrong when a cabinet maker implies otherwise.

Plan by workflow, not by room list

Ask the dentist to walk the patient's route out loud: where they check in, where they sit, where they are collected, where the chair is, and where instruments leave and return.

That walk usually shows two things. Reception needs a clear sightline to the waiting area door, so the counter should not be a full-height wall. The sterilization room needs a pass-through or a door position that keeps clean and dirty instruments from crossing — which changes the cabinet layout before any drawing is made.

Reception: the surface that has to stay clean

A dental reception counter takes more contact than most retail counters: cards, forms, pens and elbows. Specify a solid surface top with a coved upstand and no open seam at the front edge, because seams collect disinfectant and discolour within a year.

Height split: 1,100 mm transaction top on the patient side, 750 mm desk behind for staff who sit. Allow a 300 mm lockable drawer bank and a ventilated compartment for the printer. Two cable ports and a service gap let the counter be built in sections and carried through a 900 mm door.

Treatment room cabinetry: the 600 mm rule

The cabinet in front of the patient is where the nurse works, so depth matters more than width. A 600 mm deep base unit with a 150 mm upstand, a stainless or solid surface worktop, and drawer inserts sized to the clinic's own instrument trays will do more for the practice than any extra wall cabinet.

Keep the worktop between sink and chair clear — that gap is where a tray is laid out, and it is the first thing lost when cabinetry comes from a catalogue. Stop wall cabinets 450 mm above the worktop.

Sterilization room: stainless where it counts

Sterilization is the one room where stainless steel earns its cost. Worktops and sink surrounds should be stainless with welded corners.

Plan dirty to clean left to right, washer-disinfector at the dirty end, autoclave at the clean end, and leave 150 mm clear behind each unit for services. In a tight room, a pass-through hatch between sterilization and the treatment corridor saves a door swing.

Drawings, sample and DDP delivery

Send the room schedule with internal dimensions, door widths, sink positions and the equipment list with footprints. A factory that builds clinic cabinetry returns a drawing showing worktop heights, service gaps, drawer inserts and section joints.

Ask for one sample drawer front and one worktop edge sample, then confirm crating: flat-packed carcasses, worktops crated separately, labelled by room. We quote DDP, which means freight, customs and duty to your clinic address are in the price you approve.

Send your room schedule, the equipment footprints and your opening date, and we will reply with a free 3D design and a fixed quotation; we manufacture, inspect and deliver DDP. Start at the contact page.
