Display Plinths and Pedestals: Custom Riser Stands From the Factory

A plinth is the cheapest thing in a display scheme and the first thing a customer's eye lands on. Get the height wrong by 50 mm and a handbag sits below the sightline; get the finish wrong and a white plinth reads as a cheap shelf with legs.

We build display plinths, pedestals and riser stands in our own factory, in painted MDF, veneer, stone-look board and powder-coated steel, so the height, the edge profile and the finish are set to the product that will stand on them.

Height is a sightline decision, not a style choice

Retail plinths work in four heights: 300 mm for tabletop add-ons, 450 mm for counter-side product, 600 mm for a standing display and 900 mm for window work where the plinth is seen from the street. We ask for the product's own height first, then set the plinth so the top of the product lands between 1300 mm and 1500 mm, which is where a standing customer actually looks.

Edges are where cheap plinths show

A painted plinth with a square edge chips at the corner within a season of floor cleaning. We break the edge to a 2 mm radius on painted units, use a 3 mm solid edge band on veneered ones, and specify a replaceable kick plate on any plinth that will be kicked. Where the plinth sits in a window with hard sunlight, we quote a light-fast lacquer rather than the standard one.

Load, feet and the cable nobody planned for

A 900 mm plinth carrying a stone top and a sculpture is not the same structure as a 300 mm riser carrying a bottle. We build a load-bearing frame inside anything above 600 mm and state the load on the drawing. Every unit gets adjustable feet with 20 mm of travel, because no shop floor is level. If the display is lit from inside or carries a lit riser, the cable route is cut at the factory rather than drilled on site.

Risers, podiums and the set that matches

Most enquiries are not one plinth. They are a window set: three heights, one finish, stepped so product reads at three levels. We cut a full set from the same board and the same lacquer batch so the whites match, and we number the pieces underneath so staff can rebuild the window after a changeover.

Ordering from the factory

Send the products to be displayed with their heights, the window or floor plan, the finish reference and the delivery city, and we return a 3D visual, a plinth schedule and a fixed quotation within two working days. Production takes 25 to 35 days, and we quote DDP so freight, duty and clearance sit inside one price rather than arriving as a second invoice at the port.

Send us four things and the quotation comes back faster: product heights, the number of plinths and their heights, finish or colour reference, and your opening date.
