Garden Centre Display Fixtures: Custom Plant Stands & Benches
Garden centre fittings fail for reasons that have nothing to do with style. Timber rots at the base within two seasons, a bench rated for pots collapses under a pallet of compost, and drip irrigation turns a painted shelf into a peeling mess. The specification has to start from water and weight.
We build these fixtures in our own factory, so the finish, the frame and the drainage are decided by the people who produce them.
Weight ratings that match real loads
A tiered plant bench is not furniture. A 1200 mm bay holding 20 litre pots can carry 300 kg or more once the plants are watered. We build frames from 1.5 mm steel with a welded base rail, and we rate each bay in writing so the buyer knows what a shelf will hold before delivery. Bagged compost and soil go on separate low gondolas rated for pallet loading, never on display benches.
Water management built in
Every bench we make for a garden centre is detailed for drainage. Slatted or perforated trays let water through, a removable drip tray sits underneath, and the frame is powder-coated after welding so cut edges are sealed. For outdoor runs we specify hot-dip galvanised steel with a stainless fixing set, which is the difference between five years and fifteen.
Tiered benches and sightlines
Plants sell from the front. We set a three-tier bench at 300 mm, 550 mm and 800 mm so the whole face is visible from the aisle, with the tallest stock at the back of the run. Angled shelves at 15 degrees bring colour forward without hiding the price card.
The checkout and the heavy end
Garden centres lose time at the till because the counter is too small for a trolley load. We build 1600 mm counters with a lower packing shelf, a bagging area at 900 mm, and a protected cable route for the POS. A separate loading bench near the entrance keeps wet or heavy stock off the shop floor.
Ordering from the factory
Start from your plan. Send the floor plan or a measured sketch with wall lengths, the number of plant benches and gondolas, and whether the run is indoor or outdoor. We return a 3D layout, a finish sample and a fixed quotation in about two working days. Production runs 25 to 35 days, and we quote DDP so freight, duty and clearance are inside the price you approve.
Send us four things and the quotation comes back faster: the fixture list with quantities, the site plan or dimensions, the delivery city and country, and your opening date.
