Stockroom and Back-of-House Shelving: Custom Storage Racks From the Factory
We build stockroom shelving, multi-tier storage racks and cold storage racking in our own factory, so the shelf pitch, the load per level and the access aisle are set by the stock you actually hold.
Measure the box before the shelf
A stockroom is a box-handling problem, not a display problem. We start with the three carton sizes that make up most of your volume, then set the pitch to the tallest of them plus 100 mm, so a full carton clears the shelf above without being tilted. Where a delivery arrives on pallets, one bay drops to a 400 mm pitch to take the pallet whole instead of being broken down at the door.
Shelving that reaches the ceiling
Floor area in a stockroom is the most expensive metre in the building, so the usable space is vertical. We build multi-tier units at 2000 mm, 2500 mm and 3000 mm, with a walkway shelf at 1800 mm where the site has a mezzanine, and we keep the top level for slow-moving stock that only comes down on a stocktake. Loading charts go on the end frame, not in the office.
Wet, cold and heavy in one room
A back room usually holds three different environments at once: dry cartons, a chilled section and cleaning chemicals. We specify sealed-edge board for the dry runs, galvanised or powder-coated steel for anything within two metres of a chiller, and a separate bay with a spill lip for liquids. Cold storage racking gets a wider upright spacing so the unit can be moved without dismantling the frame.
Access, not just capacity
A rack that holds more and slows the pick is a worse rack. We keep a 900 mm minimum aisle at the working face, leave the first 600 mm of the run open as a staging shelf for goods-in, and set the bottom shelf at 150 mm off the floor so a pallet truck can pass without striking the frame. Where the door is tight, the end bay is built as a knock-down frame for installation on site.
Ordering from the factory
Send the stockroom plan or a measured sketch, the three main carton sizes, the heaviest item per shelf and the delivery city, and we return a 3D layout, a load schedule and a fixed quotation within two working days. Production takes 25 to 35 days, and we quote DDP so freight, duty and clearance sit inside one price rather than arriving as a second invoice at the port.
Send us four things and the quotation comes back faster: room dimensions and ceiling height, carton sizes, the load per shelf, and your opening date.
